Becoming Intentional Disciples of Jesus Christ

During Stake Conference, President Mike Pingree invited the young single adults of the stake to become intentional disciples of Jesus Christ by aligning their daily lives more fully with Him and His purposes. He emphasized that discipleship is not something we drift into—it requires conscious effort, spiritual discipline, and consistent action.

Using the REAP framework—Remember Him, Emulate Him, Align with Him, and receive His Power—President Pingree taught that spiritual growth is built through small and steady habits. Daily scripture study, meaningful prayer, and weekly sacrament worship create a foundation that anchors us to Christ and strengthens us through life’s challenges.

A central focus of his message was the importance of intentionally remembering Jesus Christ. Through sincere engagement with the Book of Mormon—feasting upon its words, pondering its teachings, and applying them in daily life—we become more grounded, purposeful, and spiritually resilient. Renewing sacred covenants regularly helps keep discipleship at the center of our priorities and brings greater clarity and peace.

President Pingree also taught about the importance of becoming more like the Savior. Developing Christlike attributes such as charity, peacemaking, humility, and temperance requires emotional maturity and a willingness to rely on the grace of Jesus Christ. True discipleship is not about perfection, but about continual transformation through faithful effort and trust in the Lord.

He further emphasized aligning our lives with God’s work by serving others, participating in missionary efforts, and prioritizing temple worship. These practices are not secondary aspects of the gospel—they are central to our identity and purpose as disciples of Christ.

President Pingree concluded with a powerful promise: as we intentionally follow Jesus Christ, we will receive divine power to face the realities of everyday life with greater peace, courage, strength, and clarity. Through Him, we can overcome challenges, remain steadfast in faith, and become the people He knows we can become.
