Walking the Covenant Path With Purpose

President Matt Dalton taught from Matthew 4:18–20, reflecting on the moment Jesus Christ called Peter and Andrew to leave their nets and follow Him. Their immediate response demonstrated a powerful principle of discipleship: true faith requires action, trust, and a willingness to move forward without hesitation. 

He compared the journey of discipleship to navigating a rugged path or climbing difficult terrain. Progress does not happen casually—it requires focus, intention, and thoughtful decisions about where to place our energy, what distractions to avoid, and how to remain centered on our eternal destination. 

President Dalton reminded young single adults that the covenant path is not always easy. There are competing voices, distractions, and moments when the way forward may feel unclear. Yet, like the iron rod in Lehi’s vision, the gospel of Jesus Christ provides stability, direction, and hope for those who choose to hold fast. 

He encouraged members of the stake to walk with purpose, remain anchored to Christ, and rely on sacred covenants for strength and guidance. As we follow the Savior consistently and intentionally, we not only grow personally but also become examples and guides who help others find lasting joy and eternal meaning.
